Beautiful Peach Orange Colored Butterfly Lily Blooms Peach Butterfly Ginger coronarium - Zone 5b - 11. A very beautiful natural hybrid found among some others I had growing a few years ago. The flowers are similar in structure to the White Butterfly Ginger with peach orange colored throats surrounded in white. The peach butterfly ginger lily is considered one of the most attractive of all gingers. Grows best in semi-shaded areas, but can live well in full sun when adequate/constant moisture is provided. The stems sometimes will attain a pinkish hue in the bracts and other times remain green. I do not know what causes this or doesn't cause this color variation. It may be the natural variation of the hybrid genes. Also like the White Butterfly Ginger, these can be grown directly in standing water such as your pond edges about 4-6" deep. If you grow them in standing shallow water, they should be planted and brought indoors if you experience a long cold winter to preserve rhizomes. Fast growing when cared for properly. Easily grown in containers or plant directly in the yard. The butterfly gingers are very attractive along the fence or along your home. This Ginger grows to heights of 4'-6'. Leaves are lance-shaped and sharp-pointed, 8-24" long and 2-4" wide. From midsummer through autumn, the stalks are topped with 6-12"-long clusters of fragrant white flowers with a deep peach middle that resembles butterflies. The flowers eventually give way to showy bright red seed pods if pollinated. They are cold hardy to 13 degrees and if hit by frost or freeze, will be one of the first plants to come back the next warm season with new shoots. Thank you for looking.
